For many veterans, transitioning from military service to civilian life can feel like being lost in the "wild," grappling with challenges such as adjusting to a new routine, reintegrating with family, finding employment, or feeling lost and directionless.

Warriors in the Wild is a veteran-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing outdoor retreats and nature-based wellness activities for U.S. military veterans. We believe healing and personal growth can begin by embracing the “wild,” both the natural world and the unfamiliar terrain of life after military service.
Through camping, hiking, adaptive outdoor recreation, team-building activities, and confidence-building challenges, veterans can step away from daily stress, discover new strengths, and reinforce the resilience developed through military service. Working together in an outdoor environment helps rebuild trust, camaraderie, belonging, and the sense of purpose that many veterans miss after leaving the military.
Most importantly, our retreats connect veterans with people who “get it.” Fellow veterans understand the culture, sacrifices, humor, and challenges of military service without requiring every experience to be explained. Whether navigating a trail, setting up camp, sharing a meal, gathering around a campfire, or finding quiet in nature, participants can reconnect with themselves and others, form lasting relationships, and move forward with renewed confidence, connection, and purpose.
